About Gizmo

Hi! I'm Gizmo...a handsome terrier-about-town with a distinct point of view. I will write about whatever interesting things come across my desk, appear on my twitter feed @GizmoGeodog, or meet me out on the geotrails. I love to geocache cause it takes me to all the wild places & I can get back to being a real dog. I care about all my brofurs & sisfurs who haven't found their own forever homes yet, & raise funds to help them whenever I can. My girl brought me home from the shelter & together we explore our world. I do my best to make her smile, & she does her best for me. We are a team.

    • Gizmo says:

Thank you…This variety is called Lake Morton (we live about 1/2 mile from Lake Morton) and is always the first to bloom around here

  6. Val says:

Those sure are pretty, we’ve got a few months til our dull winter colors become pretty again. Thanks for sharing.

  7. Thanks for this wonderful flowers, that’s so nice to sea some colors instead of our currently gray with gray and gray ;o)

  8. Jessica says:

I think you’re the only blogger on my feed who’s in a more tropical climate than us. We’re a few weeks out from Azaleas even here, although I did get local strawberries in the market last week.

I’m a little put out that our outdoors season is being replaced by the rainy season. Mud everywhere!

    • Gizmo says:

We’ve had more winter rain than usual…That may be why they’re blooming this early…You’ll get your spring color soon I’m sure

  9. Hi Gizmo!! Those are some pretty flowers! Mom doesn’t plant those flowers because she says she doesn’t have a “green thumb”…but somehow she can keep both orchids and pineapples alive. Maybe its because she doesn’t have to do anything to them?!? BOL

    • Gizmo says:

Actually mom does nothing at all to them…someone gave her the bushes, a nd all she’s ever done is cut them back some…they’re her favorite kind of plant cause they take care of themselves…and mom has had NO luck at all with orchids 😦

  10. We are ready for Spring; thanks for sharing!

  11. Your azaleas are beautiful! I love the rich pink color!

  12. Gizmo,
Your so lucky! We just got a forecast that its going to snow again this weekend! Wagging Wordless Wednesday!
    Maggie

  13. Ha! Only in Florida!

  17. Novroz says:

    Beautiful flowers!
I love that red dots on the petal

  18. Woof! Woof! WOW and that’s early isn’t it? Beautiful pink flowers. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar

  19. They are so pretty… it’s going to be a while though before we see anything like that around here!

  20. Hi Gizmo. Mother Nature is so confuzzeled. It’s gonna be 56 degrees here on Caturday. Mama says that isn’t good at all. Last winter was so warm, the whole cherry crops in Michigan failed and the annual tulip festival was cancelled in Holland, MI. The flowers are pretty, but Mama says this is just bad, bad, bad.

    • Gizmo says:

That’s not good…I didn’t know that Michigan was having such a warm winter. Doesn’t much matter here cause winter crops are pretty much in… They’ve already begun planting for the late spring/early summer crops like lettuce and greens that don’t do well in summer heat and the strawberries are already being harvested – YUM!

  21. Loy says:

They are beautiful…but man, am I jealous! Happy WW!

  22. Wow! Y’know, I’m going to tell myself my azaleas are blooming too. I just can’t see them under all the snow. 🙂

  23. Hey Giz, Jetty here. Hi Miss JG.

Wowee wow wow are they ever beautiful… BOL… we’ve barely had a winter, even for us!

    • Gizmo says:

It’s true…it’s been really mild…warmest winter in quite some time…i’ve worn a sweater exactly once and haven’t pulled a jacket out of the closet yet

  24. Clowie says:

    They’re beautiful flowers!

  25. Ann Paws says:

Nice looking azaleas. There are a lot of plants here where I live. About 5 large greenhouses full! Lol… my family owns a nursery.

    • Gizmo says:

Nope can’t compete with that 😉 But i am proud of these…They were culled from a neighbor’s yard and headed for the compost pile when I rescued them about 5 years ago…A little TLC got them established and now they bloom profusely for me with no effort

  26. I love azaleas! They used to be so pretty in the (real) spring when we lived (briefly) in Philly. In San Diego, it definitely doesn’t seem spring-y right now! In fact we are supposed to have some super cold weather in the next couple of days – lows in the 20s and 30s! Unheard of here!

    • Gizmo says:

That’s bizarre…I didn’t think San Diego ever got that cold…The Weather Overlords are obviously confused this Winter…You’ve got 20’s & 30’s while up in Michigan it’s 56 and no snow…

  27. Oh those are beautiful!

  28. Your Azaleas are lovely. My Forsythia is blooming which is odd it is usually the end of February before it blooms.

  29. Ha spring! A lil early to call it that here, we had a high of 38 today!

  30. snoopys@snoopysdogblog says:

    Yay, spring already – I’m excited!! 🙂

    I hope you’re having a fun day,

    Your pal Snoopy 🙂
