I love watching Sandhill Cranes, so felt very lucky when Gizmo & I got to the trailhead this morning and found this family out for breakfast.

Thanks to My Life in Blog Years , You Did What with Your Wiener and Dachshund Nola for hosting the Black and White Sunday blog hop.

About Gizmo
Hi! I'm Gizmo...a handsome terrier-about-town with a distinct point of view. I will write about whatever interesting things come across my desk, appear on my twitter feed @GizmoGeodog, or meet me out on the geotrails.
I love to geocache cause it takes me to all the wild places & I can get back to being a real dog.
I care about all my brofurs & sisfurs who haven't found their own forever homes yet, & raise funds to help them whenever I can.
My girl brought me home from the shelter & together we explore our world. I do my best to make her smile, & she does her best for me. We are a team.
Great pictures! I know you do geocaching, but I’ll venture to say that while you’re doing that you must see a bunch of birds, too. Sometimes I think there’s a bird-watcher lurking inside me! LOL Thanks for sharing! P.S. Look forward to taking the 30/30 challenge with you!
Thank you Loy…Teneroc, where we hiked, is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail…I’ve sent you some links And we’re all set for the Challenge…I love the idea of mutual support!
Oh very cool. We see them here in the summer. I love the sounds they make.
I love the dancing they do…They’re wonderful birds
Great pictures! I love the long shadows too.
Thanks so much…I was so happy they let me get close Happy Sunday!
wow!! they are HUGE!
They do come close to chest high on me but they are so friendly..If you put out some food for them or greet them they will return to your yard year after year…and they mate for life…Wonderful birds!
How cool! I love wildlife… you guys always have the coolest wildlife pictures. It looks like you are very close to the cranes!
Thanks Ann…Yes, I left Gizmo in the Jeep for these and got about 10′ from them…didn’t try to get any closer so I wouldn’t disturb their breakfast Happy Sunday!
Very cool. The closest we get to birds that big are Great Blue Herons. These are lovely. I’d feel very lucky as well.
We do see lots of Great Blue’s but they’re not too fond of Gizmo so I haven’t gotten a good photo on a hike…The sandhills are just so peaceful and don’t seem to mind people Happy Sunday!
Beautiful shots! 2 of the 4 lapdogs are actually Southern babies… they’ve warmed up to the snow quite well over the years! 🙂
Thank you so much…My Lab Murph was a Florida dog and she loved the winter snows of Wisconsin
Great photo of the Sandhills!
Thank you so much…glad you stopped by to check us out 🙂
Gizmo, your mom takes awesome photos.
Thanks BJ pal…I think she just gets lucky BOL!
We get to experience these birds when the migrate through Nebraska. It’s quite the experience and boy do they make a ruckus. Great photos.
We are lucky enough to have a year=round population, but it increases a lot in the winter…You can hear the flock “chatting” from quite a distance when they fly through
What a great thing to see!! They look very graceful 🙂
They are beautiful birds and they have a wonderful sort of “mating dance” they do that is great to watch
Hello Gizmo it’s Badger Boo
Pawsome pictures but I would be naughty and want to chase them oops
Yeah Badger pal…that’s why Mom left me in the car while she took these…if there was sound you could hear me barking in the background BOL!
We thought you said you had found breakfast..BOL xx00xx
Mollie and Alfie
